Dripex RW625: water rower that folds

Water rowers are prized for the sound and feel of a real stroke, but they are usually long, heavy and permanent. The Dripex RW625 keeps the water tank and wooden frame and adds a fold for vertical storage, plus four transport wheels. That makes it one of the few ways to row against water in a room that also has to do other jobs.

Our take

How water resistance works here

A 14 L tank, 445 mm across, holds a 12-blade bionic impeller. As with any water rower, resistance rises with the force of your pull rather than a set level, so the machine responds to how hard you work. There are no levels to change; you adjust effort by rowing harder or easier.

The listing does not say whether you can vary the water volume to change the feel, so treat the tank size as fixed unless Dripex confirms otherwise.

Frame, seat and rail

Dripex describes the frame as solid rubberwood (the spec table says oak) with a 150 kg user limit. The 33 by 26 cm padded seat runs on a 125 cm dual-rail track, and foot straps and the handlebar are adjustable. Very tall rowers may find 125 cm limiting compared with longer rails.

Assembled length is 182 cm and the machine weighs 25.2 kg before water is added.

Monitor, apps and storage

The LCD records calories, distance, speed and time, and Bluetooth syncs data to fitness apps, though the apps are not named. A holder keeps a phone or iPad in view.

The machine folds for vertical storage, but a full tank adds a lot of weight when tipping it, so plan where it will live. Dripex gives a one-year warranty. The stored footprint is not stated.

Against WaterRower and the magnetic folders

WaterRower models such as the Original Performance or Oxbridge are fixed, longer-term buys with established monitors and longer warranty terms. Magnetic folders like the YPOO RM912F and Wenoker H300 are lighter and fold smaller, but lack the water feel. The RW625 sits between: real water resistance in a frame that can still be put away.

Verdict

Buy the RW625 if you want water resistance and a wooden look but need to store the rower upright. If you have a permanent spot and want a long-established design, a WaterRower Original Performance suits better, and if moving and storing must be effortless, the YPOO RM912F is lighter.
