Marcy JX-7301: recumbent with moving arm handles

The Marcy JX-7301 is a recumbent bike with handles that move back and forth while you pedal, much like the arms on an elliptical trainer. Most bikes that promise an arm workout rely on loose elastic bands, so this linked design is what sets it apart. It suits riders who want a supported, reclined seat but also want to use their upper body in every session.

In its favour

  • Moving arm handles let you work the upper body while pedalling.
  • The seat slides on a chrome track and has a contoured, high-density foam back pad.
  • Transport wheels and a bottle holder, with a stated 300 lb (about 136 kg) limit.

Good to know

  • It weighs 36.3 kg and is 152.4 cm in one dimension, so it needs a fixed spot.
  • The LCD is basic and there is no app or pulse sensor in the listing.

Our take

The dual action system

Marcy calls this a dual action recumbent. The adjustable handlebars push and pull in time with your riding, so arms and legs work together rather than in separate sets. If you only want to pedal, you can hold still and use the bike as a normal recumbent.

Resistance is magnetic with eight levels, and the drive is listed as a chain rather than a belt. The LCD shows time, speed, distance, calories and odometer.

Seat and comfort

The seat moves along a chrome-finished sliding track, which the listing says gives smoother adjustment for different leg lengths. Both the seat and the back pad use contoured high-density foam. A water bottle holder sits within reach, and transport wheels help when you need to move it.

Size and space

This is a substantial machine. Amazon lists it at 36.3 kg and gives dimensions of 68.6 by 152.4 by 115.6 cm, with the 152.4 cm figure most likely being its length. The maximum user weight is 300 lb, about 136 kg. It does not fold, so it needs a permanent spot in a spare room or home gym rather than a corner of the lounge.

How it compares

The BARWING 5-in-1 offers arm work too, but through resistance bands on a folding frame, plus a higher 350 lb limit and Kinomap and Zwift support. The Marcy NS-1206R is a simpler recumbent from the same brand with two sets of fixed handles but no moving arms. If the moving handles are the reason you are shopping, the JX-7301 is the only true option among the bikes we compare.

Who it does not suit

Riders who want app classes, heart rate tracking or detailed data will find the console basic, and the listing mentions no pulse sensors. Anyone short on space should look at a folding bike instead, since this one is long and heavy.

Verdict

The Marcy JX-7301 is the right choice if you want genuine linked arm movement on a comfortable recumbent and have room for a fixed machine. If you need to fold the bike away or want app support, the BARWING 5-in-1 is more flexible. For a simpler recumbent without moving arms, the Marcy NS-1206R covers the basics.
